Finest barley malt, premium hops, smooth finish, no bitter aftertaste.
Also brewed in the US: "Anheuser-Busch began brewing Kirin Lager, Kirin Ichiban and Kirin Light at its Los Angeles brewery in 1997. The agreement marks the first time Anheuser-Busch has produced foreign brands for sale in the United States."
We invited Beavertown, who are at the very pinnacle of UK craft breweries, to a collaborative brewday. On a pre-dawn voyage of discovery with London's finest we stumbled into daybreak and uncovered renewed purpose with this imperial stout.
Riffing on the theme of how to kick-start those early mornings brewers find themselves battling against, this beer is a smoke and caffeine-themed heavyweight aged in three different whisky casks.
Each of those casks brings its own element into play – the peaty Islay, oaky vanilla Bourbon and spicy Rye all having an input. With molasses, caramel, raisin and mocha notes this beer is dry, peaty and roasty and will charge your glassware and soul both.
WTF Ale. A malty, robust, jobless Recovery Ale! We’re not quite in the Red, or in the Black... Does that mean we’re in the Brown?
A big Ol’ Imperial Brown Ale to help you with your slipperly slide on into springtime. Rich, smooth, dangerous & chocolatey.
Bottle. Golden with a small head. Some hops but not as many as you might expect for an IPA of this strength. Surprisingly laid back considring its considerable body. A ggod one.
Pronounced hops on the nose, with fresh spruce, passion fruit and pineapple notes. Medium body with big toasty malt and fruit flavour followed by a long, bittersweet finish.

Description: Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003. The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success. In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley. Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Brewed by Flying Dog Brewery ‘Al’ from ‘Hop Talk’ reported on his blog, “I understand it’s made from an augmented Snake Dog wort with an exclusive Belgian yeast strain (called Diablo) and dry-hopped with a load of Amarillo hops. They’re calling it a Belgian IPA. It was really good. It had that hop bite from a big, bad American IPA with the banana and bubblegum from the Belgian yeast.” Some may remember a beer called, Raging Bitch Birch Beer, that Flying Dog introduced on April 1st. Whereas that low-gravity series beer was a joke, this beer is anything but at 8% ABV (60 IBU).
Propaganda from the label: “Two inflammatory words…one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it…stand back! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled – and in heat – is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!” – Ralph Steadman

Brewed by Hope Beer, Howth Junction, Dublin, Ireland. A Saison Beer A bone-dry, citrussy and spicy ale inspired by Walloon farmhouse brewers. A light aperitif or accompaniment to starters. The tale of the pig on the mast: If a Howth fisherman didn’t fancy going to sea after a heavy nights drinking he would tie a pig to the ships mast. With its devil like cloven feet, the sheer mention of the word pig was thought to bring forth gales and storms. Only a brave captain would set sail, unless he fancied a rasher sandwich.

Brewed by Anchor Brewing Company The California Gold Rush compelled thousands to Go West! “to see the elephant,” a metaphor for the doggedly optimistic risk-taking linked then and now with America’s intensified pursuit of happiness. As early as 1849, India Pale Ale—prepared by British brewers for export to India by adding dry hops to barrels of hoppy ale—was also going west, from England around the Horn to San Francisco. In 1975, Anchor—America’s first craft brewery—led the modern revival of dry-hopped handmade ales.
Fast-forward to Go West! IPA™, made with 2-row pale barley malt and dry-hopped with a unique blend of 4 American hops. Its mouthwateringly complex aromas of citrus, pine, and the tropics; spiky bitterness; gleaming golden color; and clean finish unite to create this singular 24-karat IPA. Go West!, where the impossible is possible.
This brew pours bright, clear golden color with light tan head, has strong tropical and citrus fruit aromas balanced by the spiky freshness of pine needles. You get bitterness up front followed by subtly sweet maltiness, a light body and very smooth finish. You get hop bitterness, clean and fresh, and a hint of sweetness creates a complexity that leaves you wanting more.

Are you ready for our tightrope of taste. .?

Brewed in collaboration with the Woolshed Brewpub, Southern Australia. We decided to brew a style popular in Jackson Beavis’ local area of Renmark (although the Aussies drink their stouts with lemonade!) Ours is a tropical interpretation of the style with a slightly fruity, rum & molasses nose. On the tongue, we’ve kept the bitter roastiness to a minimum to allow the Southern Hemisphere hops to compliment the layered malt bill.
Yellow Belly Brewing, Wexford - Foreign Extra Stout ABV 6.5%| €5.90
Full bodied with the rich and rewarding flavours of Vienna and Crystal malts. The natural aroma of classical hop varieties, over a rich malt base. Perle and Simcoe hops add clean natural bitterness to beautifully balanced craft malts. The Simcoe hops give this ale a distinct aroma with hints of pine. Part of the Clever Man range, this beer is named after Walter G. Wilson co-inventor of the modern tank!

Continuing with our historical interpretations, we kept our Gose (Goes-Ah) as true to style as possible. We mashed half and half pilsner and wheat malt and introduced souring bacteria, around half the amount of our regular sours, before boiling with coriander and Himalayan rock salt. The resulting beer has a very subdued aroma of coriander

DESCRIPTION : Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

This is a refreshing blonde ale generously hopped to give bitterness and aroma that packs a punch! Our blonde ale is not a bland ale, there is a complexity at play here with a fruity aroma balanced by a hoppiness that makes it a slightly challenging but still quite easy to drink beer.Helvick is a great summer’s day drink, perfect for cracking out at the barbeque. Enjoy at cellar temperature (8—14°C) or cooler for a great warm weather thirst quencher. It’s an excellent beer to pair with food and works particularly well with spicy food.
This and all our beers contain a vitamin-rich yeast sediment in the bottle which is a by-product of the natural carbonation that occurs in the bottle. To pour a clear pint, pour out in one go and leave the last drop in the bottle. However, this is purely for aesthetic reasons and the sediment is absolutely fine to drink.
Cheese pairings: Pairs well with soft/semi soft cheeses as the hops balance out the delicate flavours while cutting through some of the creaminess without overpowering the cheese. You could also pair Helvick Gold with a stronger flavoured cheese such as a smoked cheese for more of a contrasting pairing.
Food pairings: Good with spicy foods, or try it with seafood — the citrus of the cascade hops provides the perfect accompaniment to fish and shellfish without overpowering the flavours.
Brewer - Dungarvan Brewing Co | 500ml Bottle | €5.50 |ABV 4.9%
The World Atlas of Beer, Tim Webb and Stephen Beaumont
Named for the famed geopark along the scenic coastline that runs between Dungarvan and Tramore, our red ale lives up to its name by pouring an intense copper colour in the glass. This is a smooth, fruity ale with a definite caramel character created by the use of crystal malt in the brewing process but with an added hop balance that is not always present in red ales and which offsets the sweetness of the caramel flavours. Suggested serving temperature is ‘cellar temperature’ which would be about 8—14°C but this comes down to personal choice — if you prefer it cooler or warmer then go for it! As with all our beers, the bottles will contain a yeast sediment which is a by-product of the bottle conditioning process. This sediment is completely harmless and fine to drink, but if you prefer a clearer beer then leave the last drop in the bottle.
Cheese pairings: Works well with semi-hard cheeses such as cheddar, gouda styles etc. which have a sweetness which works well with the sweetness of the malt profile of the beer.
Food Pairings: This is a beer that works well with most meat dishes but in particular roast meats as the caramels of both the beer and the meat complement each other fantastically.

Look--Pours a pleasant amber color with a decent head which is quickly gone. Traces of lacing throughout the drink, however. Somewhat disappointing in how clear it is. Ultra-filtered.
Smell--Esters/medicinal. Nothing offensive but nothing remarkable. Not terribly complex. Disappointing for an "Abbey" ale.
Taste--Initially very very very...sweet. Cloying doesn't cover it. And not in a manner evocative of any particular sweet-flavored thing--just sweet-flavored beer. There is not enough carbonation or of anything else to balance the sweetness. I've had beers that have this much sweetness on part of the palate, but they've usually had something else they bring to the party. It isn't undrinkable--it's actually pretty smooth. As the beer warms, things even out slightly--so I would recommend drinking this one closer to room temp.
Feel--Smooth and creamy. The carbonation is initially there, but it doesn't have enough staying power in that regard.

This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. In the 18th century, Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, ordered a stout to be sent to her from England. This beer was brewed strong and hoppy to survive the sea voyage, and it arrived in perfect condition. Soon "Russian Imperial Stout" became the toast of the Russian aristocracy. Brewed since 1994, our Black Chocolate Stout has itself become a modern classic, heralded the world over. It achieves its dark chocolate aroma and flavor through the artful blending of six malts and months of aging. Properly kept, it will improve in the bottle for many years. This stout is the toast of the winter season in many countries, and there is nothing better to enjoy with chocolate desserts, cheesecake, ice cream, fine cheeses and roaring fireplaces.
Given this beer’s higher ABV and sturdy character, we think it’s a prime candidate for cellaring. Find a cool, dry spot away from light sources, and see how it changes in the years to come. You never quite know what will happen when you age a beer: perhaps the body will smooth out, notes of vanilla, oak, and tannins will come to the front, or hints of leather and soy sauce will make themselves known. No matter what, remember that beer is meant for drinking, so don’t keep it to yourself for too long.

For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

This 5.6% trans-atlantic fusion IPA is light golden in colour with tropical fruits and light caramel on the nose. The palate soon becomes assertive and resinous with the New Zealand hops balanced by the biscuit malt. The finish is aggressive and dry with the hops emerging over the warming alcohol. This fresh, full flavour natural beer is our tribute to the classic IPAs of yester-year. The post modern twist is the addition of amazing fruity hops giving an explosion of tropical fruit flavours and a sharp bitter finish.

Full-bodied with the rich and rewarding flavours of Vienna and Crystal malts, with the natural aroma of classical hop varieties over a rich malt base. This edition to the "Clever Man" collection is named in honour of John P. Holland, the Irish inventor of the modern submarine!

This pilsner pours a typical light yellow pilsner color with a medium white head. The smell is also typical of a pilsner, distinctly yeasty and slightly acrid. The taste is not typical of a pilsner, however, unless of course your typical pilsner is a Czech pilsner. The flavors are nothing ground breaking with yeast and pilsner malts dominating, but what is different is the incredible smoothness of this beer and the fact that it has none of acrid, slightly skunky flavor that I associate with the majority of pilsners. The body is light, but somehow still has a really nice malt character. When I went to Prague I didn’t believe the hype about their beer or I at least thought it wouldn’t apply to me (someone who finds pilsners to typically be a boring and in general underwhelming beer style). There really is something about the Czech pilsner that is different though, not to mention all the other great non-pilsner beers that are there. This is maybe not the best or most exciting Czech pilsner, but I think that it’s amazing that this is one of their mass produced variety and I find it better than 90 or 95% of pilsners that I have had. This is one of the few times that I will say that I think this pilsner is underrated. It must lose something on export to the US (maybe because of the green bottle) to be rated so low

The Peroni company was established under the founding family name in the town of Vigevano, Italy, in 1846. The company was moved to Rome by Giovanni Peroni in 1864, six years prior to Rome becoming the Italian capital in 1870. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the company became one of the most prominent brewing companies in the newly unified Italian nation.
By the 1990s, both the Peroni brand name and product line were distributed and known worldwide. The London-based brewing giant SABMiller bought the company in 2003, making it one of the few international brands in its portfolio. To re-launch the brand in 2005, the company refined itself to match industry trends of the 1980s.

A brewing art for wheat beer geeks: "Mein Original" – this traditional and popular wheat beer has been brewed according to the original recipe of Georg I. Schneider since 1872. Deep amber, perfectly balanced and powerful. A taste of Bavaria. A taste like home – whether at home or socializing at the “Stammtisch”.

Clear gold with about one finger of white head that lasts about five minutes. Some splotches of lace left behind as the liquid level drops.
Smell is rich malts yeast and noble hops.
Taste is a bit hop forward and quite fine for me. Noble hops and smooth biscuity malts.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. Finishes lightly dry and bitter.
This is what a lager beer should taste like.

Poured 0.5l bottle into a Hefeweizen glass. ABV 5.3%
Appearance: Pale goleden to light amber color. Mild hazy. Tall and foamy white head, with good retention and good lacing. Very high carbonation visible.
Smell: Yeast, moderate banana aroma.
Taste: Wheat, malt, gentle bitterness from hops, banana notes in traces coming through from the background, but without any of the traditional clove or bubblegum flavors.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, light-to-medium bodied, well balanced, good carbonation in the mouth.
Overall: Refreshing, pleasant and thirst quenching, but not much of a taste. Decent enough, but pretty average for the style.
